Hi there again ! Dave Aguilar 76260,453 Tim c Branan 76360,540 Ed Kellerman
71532,3255 Nik Grant [adesk] 70421,76 =============================== I did a
test, I have a 486 – 50 mhz with 8 megs of RAM,
====================================================== I applied a 173,944
bytes cell over 50 frames.
……………………………………… I did this with all my RAM as
System Memory, and again with a RAM drive This is my RAM setup for the RAM
DRIVE: DEVICEHIGH /L:1,5888 =C:\DOS\RAMDRIVE.SYS 3072 /E
————————————————- RAM DRIVE test took 40
seconds, with no disk writes from start to finish. No RAM DRIVE took 41
seconds, with no disk writes from start to finish. Allowing a second or so for
error, I believe the test shows that they are about the same. Here is something
interesting:
************************************************************************ Text
quoted from an animator book: USING ANIMATOR, by: QUE Publishing co.
************** "If you are fortunate enough
to have extended memory, you should use the memory as a RAM disk for the
storage of temporary files. The more complicated your movies are, the more
memory you need.
…" – Page 315, Chapter 11.
Now, this book was written for the original Animator, but isn't this true even
today ? I don't want to cause trouble, but I would really like to get to the
bottom of this! [groan] And when using Windows, you need Smardrv.exe for
Windows to operate at its maximum, but you also LOSE about 2 megs of your RAM
memory, so wouldn't this slow down or take away from the memory Anipro needs to
operate properly ? – I am by no means a memory expert, but I have done small
tests and have seen this to be true. Any, any! input is appreciated!, from
anyone ! thank you very much! Mark Schneider, Montreal, Canada
