For various and sundry reasons I like both best. I do love the way the manuals
are now, and would hate to see them suffer for on-line application.
OTOH, I have seen on-line manuals that are excellent. I prefer indexing
through on-line manuals, and then being able to refer to a hardcopy (not a
crippled one, either) for an in-depth resource.
It would also be nice to be able to eliminate paper waste, but I don't know
where one would begin to cut down on 3DS documentation. I think this is a case
of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". This software is so intense and large
that complete documentation is an absolute must… and Jack has been doing an
exemplary job.
I would love to see an extensive on-line manual that would give me instant
access to a large number of cross indexed subjects, and that would also allow
me to refer to the (any) book for further study.
