Ummm, what is Black Belt's position on customer upgrades shortly
before a new upgrade is due to come out? Don here feels cheated
because he received the current version without being informed of
1.50's imminent release; I, on the other hand, have known about 1.50
for 3 weeks now. Perhaps it's because I phoned to report some bugs,
and the tech guy was nice enough to tell me, "oh, they've all been
taken care of in 1.50, due out in a couple of weeks"? I know that
Black Belt's reputation for customer support and courtesy (when the
customer is courteous too, of course) is very high, so the situation
encountered by Don was probably an oversight rather than a sinister
decision from a bunch of soulless money-grabbers. To me, hearing
someone say "I phoned to order an IM R/T upgrade and they inquired
about sending me the upcoming version, in 2-3 weeks" would sound
totally logical given my past experience with Black Belt. But what is
your position? Does Black Belt have a standard cutoff, say a month
before a major upgrade, where they start telling customers about the
option?
(And Don: you complain that the upgrade still doesn't work with your
Merlin board. Is this something you verified with Black Belt before
ordering? Your message is a bit unclear on this)
