Nope, I've not read the msg to which you refer. I'll take a gander in a moment. For the nonce, I've decided to create a database of file types and creator types from FileSaver, Norton Disk Editor, and Hax. It will by no means be definitive, but will do what I want <g>. In case it was unclear, I'm (to put it mildly) something of a Mac neophyte, and am probably stirring about in the system in ways I should not be attempting. But what's the fun of doing things if there's no possibility of breaking something? <g> These machines are so…obsessofacient, to coin a word. I'll probably be through the three volumes of Marks' C programming intro/primers in a few weeks. I have the overwhelming urge to develop some utilities for myself. I would never have become so geeked-out on a DOS box. I think.
