I need some information about Mac development. I wanted to do some programming and back when I had a Mac, I was frustrated that there were no good development environments — like Borland. I did not see the programmers workbench (MPW ?) as being that good. I left Mac for an IBM clone. After going through the OS/2 v. NT v. Windoze insanity, I'm sick of the clone and I long for Mac. I think that my problems with programming environments was as a result of not knowing where to look. I got The Apple Catalog and saw that Mac's were up to 33MHz and that AU/X can be run from CD-ROM — I jumped for joy! I saw that there was a Mac X server. There is something called Apple Link and you can get a CD-ROM similar to what Microsoft has with its developers CD. Questions: 1) Are there Borland-like Apple development environments now? 2) Is Power Mac and Power PC the same? I want to do Mac development but I also need to keep up with Windoze. I see Power PC (or Power Mac) as a way that I can do that. Could someone recommend a system for a "power" developer? 3) Can I develope X clients under AU/X? Are Motif development kits available? 4) Does Power PC or Power Mac have the extended Apple keyboard? PC keyboard stink!!! 5) Are OpenDoc SDK available? 6) When will Taligent technology be incorporated into System 7? 7) When will System 7 support threads? 8) Has there been much success with Dylan? thanks, dave
