example of what a particular command or function is used for.

In general I don't rely on online help but its a convenient augmentation of the
printed manual. As others have mentioned I prefer to take the book away from
the computer and read through it so don't eliminate the manuals, please. I
also like to put notes in the margins so online help doesn't cut it.
