Technical Support:
Sutton Designs, Inc. manufactures a line of upses and currently sells
them on a number of large government contracts including the
Comprehensive Health Care System, which is a 1.1 billion dollar
network contract.
The upses use the industry standard basic signaling (like the APC
Back-UPS), where pin 2 of the ups db-9 (dcd) generates a LO to HI
RS-232 signal upon power failure.
We now offer ups software support for the Quadra 900 MAC running
AppleShare 4.0 on System 7.1 and running AppleShare Pro alongside
A/UX. NOTE THAT BOTH servers use the motorola 68040 CPU. The software
sends "save" and "quit" messages directly to applications,
allowing the successful closing of applications that are running
when a serious power failure occurs and the ups has so notified the
