David,
Well we may actually be working to some form of limited agreement here. I too
believe that Adesk should be using Ani Pro and 3DS flics in their
presentations; I too despise the trite and overworn blue gradient background
with yellow text; and I'm no great fan of Powerpoint <really, honest>. What I
find worrisome is that your apparent knowledge and zeal for Ani Pro has
blinded you to some serious misconceptions that you hold about other
products.
It seems from your posts that you judge the relative usefulness of Powerpoint
not on an understanding of the program but rather on viewing the poor results
of some presentation amatuers. Yes, the Adesk folks who rely solely on blue
backgrounds and yellow bullets are amatuers.
Do you really think that PP can only be used with a blue background and a
limited font selection? Do you really think that the poor clip art is the
only graphic resource for PP? All of your talk about changing things on the
fly, different backgrounds, different text is certainly not exclusive to Ani
Pro. Animator Pro is an exceptionally valuable resource in the professional
presenters toolbox. You're kidding yourself if you insist on viewing it as
the whole workshop in a box.
I have no doubt that you have been exposed to some really bad PP
presentations. The problem is that you are mistakenly assuming that an inept
and unprofessional presentation is the result of the program and not the
presenter. All of the issues that you have brought up have nothing to do with
the program used to run the presentation but go directly to the skill and
competence of the person designing the presentation.
P.S. You may wish to reconsider the way in which you use the quote function
of your CIS navigator. All those quotes not only make your post extremely
hard to read, but if John Foust ever catches you he'll flay you alive <BG>.
