PAR v. Targa 2000 in PAL
I have been following the PAR discussions with great interest but the
UK suppliers suggest that October is the earliestdate for a PAL disk
recorder on PC, though the Amiga version is available. I have seen
the Matrox MAX in action but this seems expensive and soon to become
old technology.
The promised date here for the Targa 2000 card is April and I am
tempted to put my name down for one. Has anybody experience of the
Targa 2000 and how it compares to the PAR. It seems that the PAR sets
the standard for the newer low cost options.
Am I right in assuming that the Targa 2000 card gets data through the
EISA bus rather than direct connection from disk as per the PAR. I
presume this is OK for AVI files but in the small print I read that a
JPEG compression card is a preferred option for a stream of files. I
mainly want to record animations but I also want to start mixing in
live video at "broadcastable" quality. Anyone have suggestions for
video card/JPEG card/hard disk combinations.
