Please don't misunderstand – I think MIPS systems are wonderful! I've seen the NEC boxes, for one. I was also VERY impressed by the Alpha stuff there running NT. I also believe that NT and Cairo will allow non-Intel RISC platforms to gain in popularity due to the tremendous performance with compatibility (emulation and otherwise) with off the shelf software. I agree that eventually this will be true. But it's going to take a while because the "tail" of the industry is getting larger and larger.
