Actually, there is a software-only MPEG system in the public domain on the
Internet, I know I've seen versions of it for the Mac and Windows and X and the
Amiga, but I don't remember if they include any conversion to MPEG other than
something probably based on the PBM conversion tools, which means they're all
command-line based.
