They (the CGI houses) had no reason in the past to use 3ds for any serious work, because they'd have to purchase and setup an entire network of PCs exclusively for 3ds. Now all they would need are the 3ds workstations which could then be tied in to their existing SGI network. They will now be able to run 3ds with a relatively small hardware investment (if any at all). I think that because of this, 3ds will start recieving a wider acceptance in the high end animation market and we will be seeing much more 3ds produced material (mainstream stuff) in the future. Basically, I see this move by Adesk as an attempt to grab a piece of the "Oh, sorry, we only use software that runs on SGI" market. That's my impression, anyway. David
