Doug, I'm not sure that we are talking about the same board. I'll have to try and read Geoinf.* again. Geoinfonet is a board funded and maintained by the State of Califorinia Department of Natural Resources (Thats not actually the name of the dept. but I can't remember). I don't remember any other nodes like the one on the Gif file. Anyway this board is not an access point for Internet, but it has most of the newsgroups that you would go to Internet for including Usenet. And these boards are all ready echoed to one place. You can also automate, so even though you are calling California it may be cheaper than a commercial service. I'll let you know more about it as I find my way around.
