Bart, I've got a MAC IIcx to try out the software. I haven't given AMAX a chance at it yet. I did get the MAXFAX (supplied software from MACwarehouse) to start by attempting to register with Prometheus' FAX setup but I cancelled it when it informed me it was sending six pages! I thought it was an error, since I only filled out a short form for the registration. The other software that was provided (a simple term program) seems to work but when I try to use it to go online with CIS (supplied script) it dials and connects but never finishes the login, just seems to hang. It does have an AutoSetup feature that polls the modem and sets up the init string for the modem. I'm not at that machine now or I'd include the string here. I will upload it in another POST when I get home. Using it manually I can't get the PPN or Password to respond, nor do any prompts from CIS display on the screen. There is the register &R or is it just R, R0 for PC, R1 for MAC, that might a partial clue, but all the other default parameters seem OK. Using AT&V will display the settings for you. Autopilot works with the modem, but sometimes during the initial connect I must issue the +++ to put modem into command mode, then issue an ATO to go back to data mode, sometimes a couple times, then AP takes over and the script if follows starts running smoothly. I've ordered GPFax from Safe Harbor and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. I've also ordered the CDROM file system ASIM (sp?) for the PowerCD I also purchased. The CDROM is single speed and slow but it has some interesting features, portability and a remote control for use with PhotoCD and your TV. I'll keep you informed if I succeed with the FAX setup.
