In fact, Paul, it's a question that has often passed through my mind (and kept right on going, of course… ): When you buy a package on one platform, might there not be some offering to make it available less expensively on another? Hey, if I have Zork I, II, and III on my 64, I don't *have* to buy it for my Amiga. There's a lot of disk cranking to run on the earlier machine, but I've already bought a major part of the logic. Or Flight Simulator II, and its scenery disks. Same package, same general operation, but it seems somehow unjust to pay full price for logic you've already purcahsed. Moving to a new platform could be considered a form of "upgrade", I would think. Boy, am I dating myself with the examples above. But they are real ones from 64-to-Amiga (there are quite a few more), and the question extends itself to other platform shifts, say, Amiga-to-PC. (So, it's a shift DOWN in this case, but I'm talking about principles here). I still have my Word Perfect package, for example, which might be revived by a shift to the PC. But I don't think I would pay full price for it there, when I can still do the job on the old platform. My question about SAS/C reflects similar thinking. I doubt that it exists . but why SHOULDN'T there be a price break for a cross-grade to another platform? –Jim
