Hi!
The palette prefs shows 8 colors because WB is using only 8 colors, even if the
screen allows more.
The 8 WB-colors are not the first 8 colors of the WB-Screen, they are the 4
first and the 4 last colors. No problem on a 8 color screen, but on a 16 color
screen it makes your icons look funny 🙂
.. i guess you need 16 color icons.
