No. NT is a fully self-contained OS. DOS isn't required to install or boot
it. The character-based stuff you see before NT is fully installed may look
like DOS, but it isn't. Anyway, don't confuse NT with its younger sibling
Windows 3.x which doesn't do anything without DOS.
