Hi Sanford,
Yup! I'm a dealer, we're also planning on handeling the RenderGarden when it's
ready. Now that 3DS is going to Windows NT Matt and the boys in Texas are
heading in that direction.
There's only a one page brochure on 3 of Schreibers products one of which is
MetaBalls…not really much info on it though, there planning on a better one.
The suggested list is $495, we sell it at $455. Your also in luck because the
New version is just getting ready to ship.
To help explain the product further I'll quote the Chapter 2: Metaballs
Concepts: section.
MetaReyes V1.0 modeler creates comples surfaces using a technique called
mataballs. MetaReyes metaballs IPAS software is a new and powerful tool for
modeling inside 3D Studio. Metaballs crates objects with an organic look which
is nearly impossible to achieve using conventional methosd. Animating
metaballs allows you to quickly create lifelike characters, animals or liquids.
Modeling with metaballs is accomplished by creating an indeterminate number of
reference spheres in the workspace which will subsequently be processed by
MetaReyes to produce a new surface representing no the original spheres, but
the smooth surfaces connecting them. Metaball surfaces behave similar to a
liquid surface, such as mercury. Consider several dorps of mercury as they
touch each other: slowly they begin to fuse, generating a new surface that
involves them progressively according to thier distance. You may control the
fusion coefficient of each reference sphere to to adjust the apparent surface
tension between adjacent spheres.
Five modules make up the metaballs modeler:
MASSIGN.PXP Metaballs fusion control assignment
MSHAPE.PXP Metaballs surface generator
MSHADE.SXP Metaballs shader
MISOLA.PXP Metaballs animation pre-processor
MANIM.AXP Metaballs animation AXP
There's much more but I think you get the idea.
Let me know if your interested.
