Computer Chronicles is affliated with Byte? I don't remember hearing that.
As for the PC and Mac Toasters, you're going to have to live with the fact
that the Amiga will be treated as a peripheral on those machines. Is that
so bad? Those users will eventually come around to the Amiga if they want
to take advantage of the character generator, LightWave, or ChromaFX in the
Toaster. With the PC and Mac Toasters, they aren't getting much more than
transition effects in the Switcher.
At the moment, NewTek is wowwing them at MacWorld with a transparent link
between the Mac and the Toaster: edit a picture on the Mac, zap it over to
Toaster Paint, add CG titles, etc. and zap it back to the Mac. Neat, huh?
Even a PC or Mac user is smart enough to recognize that something with a
monitor, mouse and keyboard is probably a computer of some kind. They'll
figure out that the Toaster is an Amiga. Some of them won't care. Others
will figure out just what it means: multitasking without lockups and/or
eight megs of memory per app. That, my friend, will do much more to promote
the Amiga than the paranoid ravings of your average BBS denizen. 🙂
