Alec, No normally with any tape backup software you can not assign a drive letter to it. That's what makes the RENDER-T0-DAT software unique! You install a small TSR, format your tape (if unformatted for RENDER-TO-DAT), then mount the drive. That Simple!! We tested the speed against ArcSolo on our server. We backed up 4gb with ArcSolo and it took 4 hours. The same data was copied (yes I said copied, with the DOS command "XCOPY") to the virtual drive and it only took 45 minutes. We also have brought up random images on the drive to view them and have even played FLC files directly from the DAT. I need to know the exact model number of the conner drive, but I do believe it is supportted. Fo opitmum performance though a HP1533 DAT drive is reccommended.
