John, Thanks for the reply. The original box was a 386/25, the new thing is a 486/66. The idea was to get some more speed, then I discovered Incribers 'wait' command. I guess reading the manual sometimes pays off! But at least loading captions is quicker now. I don't however think that it's a hardware problem. The installation process is fairly straightforward BUT there are certain proceedures which 'Install' doesn't carry out, mainly to do with other cards in the box, I think. I've found one of these but I believe there may be another. Other cards include Soundblaster, CD-ROM, plus the usual Super VGA card. Mark
