#Spigot AV
<<How can I find out what the throughput is for a drive?>>
Aside from the written specifications <which you probably don't have — I don't
think any came with my 840AV>, you will need a utility.
I'm not sure what comes with the Spigot AV these days. My non-linear gear
includes such a utility that will inidicate the true sustained throughput of
any drive connected (a diagnostic you *must* know to set compression
correctly). I know the higher end Video Vision from Radius has such a utility
too.
Probably the quickest way to find out is to pop to MACBVEN forum and post a
message to Radius in Section 14.
One tiny piece of advice, tho. Buy the non-linear system first. Be patient.
See how you need to refit your 840 to work with your choice. This saved me
thousands of dollars by realizing that these finicky boards and software work
very well with a rather narrow set of outboard equipment (for example, my board
set doesn't work with any monitor that doesn't sync on green — hence a new
Apple monitor won't function).
