I am having problems blacking my tapes to prepare them for insert editing. I am told the best thing to use is a blackburst generator but as of now I do not have one. I am using my hi 8 camera (L2) with the lens cap on. I put it in record with a tape in and take the S Video out and audio out and send it to the respective in ports on my AG 1970. The problem is I get what look like dropouts, streaks of white or colors on the black. Those same dropouts are not on the tape in the Hi 8 camera. When I tried to just copy the black on the hi 8 tape to the Super VHS deck the edit controller aborted a lot and the manufacturer told me it was probably and unstable video signal. I edit controller can edit with the tapes blacked directly from the camera, but the dropouts or whatever they are ruin the look of the video. I get the same result with three different Fuji H471S Double Coated master quality Super VHS tapes. What am I doing wrong?
