John,
That fast 2Gb drive is going to make a big difference. Don't bother with
MovieShop 1.2 — go ahead and use 2.1!
To change buffers:
1. Do not open or create a new project when you start MovieShop — this is
important since you can't change these values once you are in the project!
2. Go to buffer window via "Windows/Settings/Buffers…"
3. Start the experiments <grin>. After playing around on my A3000, I've
stumbled upon these settings which you may want to try after you try the
defaults.
A. Buffer size: 10MB
B. Rec: 128 KB
C. Play: 512 KB
D. PreLoad: 1.6MB
4. Save all your changes via "Settings/Save Settings/To Archive".
5. Quit MovieShop.
6. Start MovieShop and see how things run now.
If the input signal doesn't look too good, you might want to check out the
status of your "Windows/Settings/Hardware…" free running flag. I had to turn
mine on (checked) to fix a bad looking input signal even though the digitized
image was great.
