Don't forget that even though active personell and equipment do get cutback so that there is a decrease in force level, and therefore in procurement, the stuff that is left get's used more (equipment and personell). This leads to increases in breakdown and fatigue which up's the costs. A smaller military does not neccessarily mean a saving. =>and the cost of all these "peace keeping" missions we're involved in =>lately. If the US wants to have a say in world politics, then these 'missions' are essential. It shows a vested interest in the affairs of other countries and allows the US to steer policy in trouble spots. No investment, no interest, and the countries involved will just tell the US to 'blow'. Trent 'Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori'
