>>Anton, I don't know if i'm able to help you out with your problems as such,
but if I might i'd like to ask you about your Plextor Quad-Speed CD-Rom. Is it
a good system worth the time and money? I've seen it advertised quite a bit
alongside others such as Nec, Teac & Phillips just to name a few, but seem to
gravitate back to the Plextor.
Is installation fairly simple? Does the SoundBlaster AWE32 card mate well with
it? Are there any hidden or vague caveats one should be aware of when buying or
purchasing this system?<<
The Plextor came with the Micron P90PCI system and it has worked well. I
obtained from technical support the patch internal adaptor wire to output CD
sound via the AWE32 amplified and unamplifed connections (4 Reconton wireless
and 2 Sony with external amplifer speakers). It was integrated with the SCSI
system well.
I had problems with PC-KWIK, and needed to turn off local storage of NDW 3.11
& on using Smartdrv not to cache CD-ROM drive in order to permit disk changes
with updated file listings on the CD-ROM.
