If current trends continue, in a few tens of millions of years there will be a 2000 km long Island Arc in the North Pacific — the present California Coast from Drake's Bay South plus Baja California. It will contain some Paleozoic rocks — much metamorphised and hard to date from fossils as it happens — but that's just the luck of the draw, not a necessary consequence of the plate motion phenomena that will put it there. Presumably other Landmasses are getting rafted into unlikely positions by much the same sort of phenomena.
