#Database
No, it isn't the same. I just got a call from the author of the new MINCAT,
soon to have a new name, because he just discovered that the name was in use.
Apparently the MINCAT program is primarily for X-ray work and to search for
minerals with certain elements–find all minerals containing Cu, U, and Si for
instance.
Don't know what the new name for the cataloging software will be, but the March
MN has a review of it, the author didn't have a new name selected, so the
review is under the MINCAT name.
As far as the database you have been seeking, I almost have it done. Learning a
new programing language along with having 25 hours worth of work per day
already is a real blast. The data is done, the program is designed and works,
but still have to get some of the search mechanisms to be fully functional, and
make a final design of the windows, menus etc. So, if all goes well, it will be
done sometime in April, if I don't wisen up soon and figure out some of those
details, then it will be done when I do!
