CompuServe Messages

I can download files but when I try to use them, I get garbage. If I click on the icon, I get a lightning flash on the screen and a thunk from the speakers. If I try to MORE the script onto the screen a note saying WARNING BINARY appears. I can TYPE (opt h) and display the hex code. But I can't use that. My computer is Amiga 2000, accelerated. My communication software is Terminus 2.0d. I suspect that the software hasn't been programmed software hasn't been programmed correctly. I have scoured through the manual (many times) but have been unable to figure out what needs to be changed. I use XMODEM protocol because that is the only one Terminus and CompuServe have in common. ] Any suggestions?
