Tim— Ten years ago, desktop publishing enabled thousands of people to become publishers of books, magazines, and newsletters for the first time. Today, digital video systems (such as those from Data Translation, Avid, Radius, ImMIX) are now giving creatives access to computer-based tools that can create video programs that are absolutely broadcast! Still too high for a majority of 'consumers' but dropping each month and 1/500th of what an equivalent analog suite cost 20 years ago. "Broadcasting" will soon be a thing of the past as it implies one-way dissemination from one central facility to a multitude of TV sets. Desktop studios will enable "Narrowcasting" so that individuals can create and distribute their own program material, within an office, down the block or across the world. I'm raving—sorry.
