There's an extensive discussion over in the Consumer Electronics forum about what "broadcast quality" means. Some people include high end consumer/industrial VCR's as "broadcast quality" (at least SVHS and Hi8, maybe even VHS itself) whereas others exclude anything less than the networks broadcast. (By the latter definition, local stations commonly broadcast less than "broadcast quality".)
