<Brave guy, huh?>
Braver than you could possibly imagine <g>, ask our dealer … ;-0
<Redon>
Yes, in Chicago. There was a wonderful major exhibit here last year; I went
twice, and wishes I could have gone back again. He started art "late", in hos
30's, but was immensely productive. The reason I thought of him in connection
with VR was that he was considered sort of the artist of the subconcious .. the
exhibit was "Odilon Redon, Prince of Dreams" – he was quite different than any
of his contemporaries (1840-1916). Almost no color in his early work, it was
all charcoal/pencil- very intense stuff; later he expanded (exploded!) into
color. I did fork out for the gallery book for the exhibit – but all the images
looked disappointingly flat – lost all the emotional wham. It has been my
favorite exhibit since we've been here – and I did get to seee the big Monet
exhibit a few years ago (I always liked Monet – but I sure was sick of
haystacks by the end of that one!). Here's an incendiary comment for you re:
Monet <BG> – "if he were alive today, he'd be out of business – same subject
with 6 different lighting conditions can be done in Photoshop". I agree with
you, though, Da Vinci would have pushed CG artistically and technically to the
max …. but I'd still give the VR setup to Redon ….
Let me what you think if you find Redon's work.
