Thanks for the thought provoking questions. As I replied to Dave B. I
assume from your comments then that these conversion programs would act
something like Corel Trace from Corel Systems (makers of Corel Draw). They
bring in a representation of the original which you can then use as is (if
the original was in excellent condition) or you clean it up and "better"
the original. The difference with Corel Trace is it is designed to work
with graphical designs, not scale drawn drawings. I think they will have to
realize that these tools will at best save them time over completely
redrawing an image but can never replace having a disk copy of an AutoCAD
drawing.
I'll ask you also, what about the availability of scanners? I have never
seen a D or E size scanner. Who makes them and what is their cost range?
