Brad, I see. I think I'm beginning to get a handle on some of these issues, and it seems clear to me that an NI monitor, and sophisticated software drivers such as those your company produces, will be cost effective for the vast majority of Autocad users. But let me ask you (and any lurkers who wish to join in) another question. Our generic video card uses a Trident clipset. We also have another semi-generic card (KLH, I think) that uses the Tseng clipset. Our cost on the Tseng card is about $25 more. Will the Tseng card give better performance? Is there another chipset found on generic cards that is better than either? Leaving generic cards aside for a moment, will buying a "brand name" (but not coprocessed) card yield any benefits? Or is a generic card with the right clipset and the right drivers basically as good? IOW, if a customer doesn't seem to want to pay for a coprocessed card, should I just happily sell one of our generic cards, or is there something I should recommend for (say) $100-$200 more?
