That depends on what the Tseng board comes shipped with as far as drivers.
In any event, Windows on the S3 will be faster than the ET4000. AutoCAD
should be faster by a reasonable amount as well, even if both S3 and ET4000
are running with DLP software. AutoShade performance, however, is system
performance bound (not graphics board bound.
As far as the VMI DesignMaster goes, I'm not that familiar with it, since
VMI has steadfastly refused to send us a board. They have a nice AutoCAD
driver, from what I've seen at shows, however. In Windows, any S3 solution
would blow it away, however. The same probably applies to a real DLP on an
S3 board too. I don't know what the "RenderReady" feature is, but I know
that our p-mode DLD386Deluxe-S3 software on an S3 board, will provide full
rendering support for AutoShade v2 w/RenderMan and for 3D Studio. If run on
an S3 board with a Sierra HiColor DAC, then it'll also render at 32,768
colors.
If you want a real-life comparison of S3 vs. ET-4000 VGAs under Windows,
check out last week's issue of InfoWorld. WinSpeed is also compared there.
