Craig,
I used to not like compiled code either, and this stems back to my
days using the HP-85……as one usually can tweak the code just enough to
get it to more than it does……….
But after I had the guys in our Santa Fe office start messing with a custom
menu setup, and altering my lisp routines, I had to start thinking about
keeping the code less available……and more supportable.
I do feel that the original source code should be available for those that
want it……..But if you have upwards of 80 lisp routines, as I do, with
many of them inter-connected…….you would hardly want saturday afternoon
coders customizing code that you have to support, especially over the phone.
So now I've come the point where, probably the source code isn't quite so
necessary as Proper Responsive Support is. A rarity, so we tend to want the
source code…….
