That message is typical of those received when a drawing has become
corrupted. If you haven't already, rename the .BAK backup file and see if
that one is broken as well.
There are more and more file salvage utilities showing up on the market, it
would be nice if someone reviewed them for ability and effectiveness.
Also check the back of the manual, page 400, for some procedures that may
help in salvaging the drawing.
What causes this to happen? I wish there was a single answer. It can range
from voltage spikes to hard drive controllers (usually hardware). We are
looking to make .DWGs a little more enduring to such conditions.
