Joe, The funny file name comes from AutoCAD. This is the temp file that Acad creates while you are working on the drawing. When you END a drawing the drawing editor will delete any current .bak file, rename your original drawing file to .bak and rename the temp file to the drawing.dwg file. For some reason ACAD is losing the temp file (or at least thinks it is). When you reload the drawing are your edits still in place ?????
