Neil, you will need something to supply the Genlock with a Live signal, and
something to record the Genlocked signal. One of them MUST be a recording
device such as a VCR. If you have 2 VCR's, great! If you have a VCR and a
Video Camera, that works also.
The best Genlock for the money……thats purely subjective. The SuperGen
from Digital Creations is about $800 and is fantastic, and not an
unreasonable price if you are doing serious work. The AmiGen from Mimetics
at $180 is also sai to be good, but nowhere as good as the SUperGen.
Nevertheless, for $180 it is a steal….especially for home use.
