Glad to hear that there's another good guy out there! My responsibilities
here at Autodesk include investigating copyright infringement cases, so I
think I can answer your questions.
First, unauthorized duplication of Autodesk products for simultaneous use is
in direct contravention of the Autodesk license agreement. It is punishable
in a federal criminal action pursuant to 17 USC, sec. 504a by a fine of up to
$25,000 and imprisonment for up to one year. In addition, federal civil
penalties provided in 17 USC, sec 504a allow the recovery of actual damages
based upon the number of copies produced or liquidated damages ranging up to
$50,000 for willful copyright infringement.
We have a program here to work with companies to make sure they are running
only on those machines for which they have a valid license. I would be more
than happy to talk to you about a way to get your company legal. You can
retain your anonymity if you'd like. Please leave me a phone number and we
can discuss the situation. [Easyplex to Jamie]
