AUTODESK RELEASES NEW VERSION OF AUTOCAD AEC ARCHITECTURAL
SAUSALITO, California, April 25, 1988 — Autodesk, Inc., developers of
AutoCADR, the world's most widely used computer-aided design software,
announced today the release of AutoCAD AEC Architectural version 2.0/9.0 for
the IBM PC/XTTM/ATR, Personal System/2R and 100% compatible systems.
AutoCAD AEC Architectural customizes AutoCAD for the specific needs of
professionals in the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C)
industries.
Version 2.0/9.0, so designated because it is the second major release of
AutoCAD AEC Architectural and requires AutoCAD Release 9 to run, offers
several significant new features. Chief among these new options is the
program's full 3-D design capability and compatibility with AutoShadeTM, an
Autodesk program which converts AutoCAD drawings into full-color shaded
renderings.
"This new version of AutoCAD AEC Architectural is for the design professional
who wants 3-D capability without any loss of ease-of-use or efficiency," said
Lars Moureau, AutoCAD AEC Product Manager. "In just a few keystrokes, it
will automatically convert 2-D bubble diagrams to 3-D models. Designers can
then take advantage of AutoShade to create full-color shaded renderings which
are ideal for client presentation. AutoFlix, an animation tool included with
AutoShade, creates 'movies' of renderings to produce simulated
'walk-throughs' of client projects."
AutoCAD AEC Architectural will be distributed through Authorized Autodesk
Dealers and has a suggested retail price of US$1,000. For more information
about domestic and international purchase or update procedures for AEC
Architectural 2.0/9.0, users should contact their local authorized dealer or
distributor.
