Our company is looking to expand to multiple CAD stations within the next 2 years. The end requirement will be for 5-8 stations running AutoCAD, producing mainly 2-D drawings for use in a manufacturing environment. I would appreciate hearing from others who have a similar set-up. Of particular interest are comments on the usefulness of networking multiple AutoCAD stations. What problems have people encountered with networking? Why did you go to a network, and has it produced the expected results? If you decided not to network, why? What type(s) of networks work well with AutoCAD (and which DON'T work)? What advantage do stand-alone stations offer? Also, is there any validity to the rumor that Release 10 will be the last version of AutoCAD for the DOS environment? Is UNIX (or some other OS) the future of AutoCAD……?? Thanks for your comments! -HK-
