#A2500/Targa Compatible?
I am seriously considering buying an A2500 with a 2058 Ram Board w/6mb RAM (9mb
total) and an 80mb HD, an 2286 Bridgeboard (AT Compatible) with 80287. In lieu
of a standard VGA video card, I need to know if a Targa 16 or 32 can be used
with this system (through the AT side); and, if so what results/
limitations/problems can be expected? Other peripherals include a Zenith
ACM-1490 Multisync monitor, Sharp JX-450 Color Scanner w/ASDG ScanLab Software
(what would be required for ScanLab to get images to the AT side?) and an Apple
Laserwriter IINTX. Applications would be for DTP (knowing the Targa is not
compatible with Amiga DTP software) and color graphics/retouching (AT <Targa>
side). It's either an approach like this or I may go the new Mac IIx 8/160mb
with RasterOps 24-bit Color Monitor ($9,199 !!) and its 16 million colors, plus
similar peripherals at about $15K MORE than the A2500 <gulp!> (I presently
have an A1000 (2 years) and A500, but feel stymied with the present (graphics)
chips and software developers creating "professional" software that they limit
to the 512K "home" market)
