What happened to the 3DS\VPOST directory? It seems kind of strange to have everything else so organized and yet no default directory for VP, other than \3DS… How about Texture map proxies for 3DSr3 mapping? I tend to spend a lot of time going through the cycle of: 1. Apply Mapping 2. Render Scene 3. Wait for image to render 4. Goto step 1 until map looks "right". It would be great to "see" a sample of the map as you apply coordinates to the object. In the Modify\Objects\Attributes dialog box, it would be nice to see the names of the materials assigned to the object. Now if you want to find the material assigned to an object you have to use the Surface\Materials\Aquire and/or \Show commands. Also, an animation starts to render to disk, could 3DS make a few quick calculations to verify the sufficent disk space exist for the animation? Many times I've had animations crash-land after running 15 or more hours because of insufficient disk space. Hey, I thought 14 Megs was enough for 150 frames… In the rendering dialog box, I love the Time of Last Frame reading, but why not calculate a quick estimated time of completion for us. Why try to reserve the Left and Right arrow keys for "Non-Mouse" (keyboard) people. I would much rather have 3DS compatible with AniPro and use those keys for frame movement. I seriously doubt that anyone using a $3,000 software package cannot afford a mouse at $12.00. Also, for the Release 3 "City" image, set the Far Camera Range a little closer so the buildings at the edge of the city do not look like they are sitting on the edge of eternity. Still, great job, whoever did it! Display List support for 3DS One last thought, I finally found a GOOD use for the Dongle. It is the best excuse in the world to use on your friends begging you for a copy of 3DS. It sure beats the old "Well, you'll need 800 Megs of RAM and 4 Weitek MathCoprocessors, and a 486-60 to run it, sorry." Thanks! -MM
