The symptoms you've described are typical alright! Not to sound too pessim istic, but sooner or later the same thing is going to start happening again. There is indeed a 200 watt replacement for the 3000, but it's not from CBM (although the board is from the same company that furnishes the ps's in the current Amiga line).
