Mark, My Mitsumi drive came with version 1.20 of the device drivers, for both DMA and non-DMA setups. On my 386 system the non-DMA version worked the best in all cases, so the last line in my CONFIG.SYS reads: MTMCDS.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:300 /A:0 /M:15 /I:5 /S:2 This being a 386 system with no LPT2 port, I used IRQ5 (the board jumper has to match this). The automatic speed detection was selecting S=3 (for 25mHz clock speeds or greater) which did cause some intermittent errors, so I specified /S:2 which is correct for this machine. My drive came with version 2.20 of MSCDEX, which I installed in AUTOEXEC.BAT with the following line: MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /E /M:32 Version 2.21 that I got from MSL-1 here on CIS just won't work on my system and I've heard from others that it's broken in some way. I'm using QEMM 6.01 which loads both MTMCDS.SYS and MSCDEX.EXE in high memory and everything works just fine, better than with Windows 3.0, in fact. Under 3.0 any attempt to run the National Geographic "Mammals" CD-ROM from a DOS window would cause a 'system integrity' violation and terminate Mammals. This works perfectly under Win 3.1. Hope you get it working OK, Tom
