Well, I don't see the dichotomy you seem to. I see a wide range of
Commercial software and another wide range of PD software, and the ranges
overlap. When that overlap is apparent in a similar program, it gets real
irritating to read a rave review of the commercial product with no mention
of the PD offering.
Oh well, there ain't no perfect worlds.
