Pat, My external drive is an Air 3.5 inch drive that can handle the Amiga 880K/BB 720K formats. Don't forget the DRIVPARM /D:1 /C /F:2 /H:2 /S:9 /T:80 command in the CONFIG.SYS file that Steven and I told you about. I think I read the Janus 2.1 improvements in one of Marion J Deland 72550,1733 CROSSINGS newsletter. If you contact her in the Bridgeboard Section 12 on the AmigaUser forum, she can probably give you a more comprehensive list. Also, Steven D. Kapplin 70055,1021 here has already upgraded to Janus 2.1 on his system. I'm getting it partly on his enthusiastic recommendation. My dealer is getting it for me. The Janus commands AREAD/AWRITE have more options. Also, the installation program works as I've already told you. There probably is a hardware hack for making A: drive a 3.5 inch drive, but you're talking to the guy who just took the Amiga 2000HD into his dealer to get his drive installed correctly. Now one of the cables was too short and had pin 3 or 4 shorted out, but I've just not a hardware hacker. I can tell you that you would need DRIVPARM /D:0 /C /F:2 /H:2 /S:9 /T:80 in your CONFIG.SYS file. Notice that only the /D parameter changed. It may be only a matter of getting a multi-function VGA card that has memory, ports, and controllers on it. I know Dave Cinege 70322,447 of Elite Micro Computers has such a card. I don't know if that will work. He might be able to tell you how to hack the A: drive. After all, he does sell a Commodore A2386 card modified to have a 486 chip. Good luck! Sincerely, (Mr.) Gayle Lee Fairless 'Perfessor Fearless' from the Rocket City!
