You can display text at level 13 by going into the Display menu, selecting,
Preferences, and clicking on the "text" button.
I've also found that the system keeps saying it has no data at
magnifications 2,4,6,8,10, etc. You cn fix this by clicking on the "Auto"
button in the "Mag" box. Then just click the magnification that you want
to use. Here are some other goodies:
When printing maps at mag 13, I get HUGE text for the street names.
Hopefully there is a way to get around.
You can add just about anything to a map. Click on the jagged line in the
Toolbox. Then draw a line with it. Now click on the arrow in the tool box
and click on the line. This selects the line. Now go into the Edit menu
and click "Show feature codes". If you now scroll through the list of
feature codes and click on one of them, the line turns into the style of
the feature. For Features that aren't lines (like lakes). Use the polygon
tool from the toolbox.
