I'm convinced IRQs are PC hell. Some idiot along the way decided no one
ever would want or need more than two active serial port devices, so even
though you can have COM1-COM4 (which is a heck of a limit in itself) just
try using more than two at a time, and then watch it! Lots of PCers are
now discovering this as they try to get modems, graphics cards, scanners,
sound cards, mice and other gizmos all on line at once.
Next time ask me about UARTS. Another arrrgh. My PC has me swimming in
alphabet soup.
